I was born in New Zealand and emigrated to Australia (the land of the gods) in 1988 am a retired metro bus driver and my family of 3 daughters and the Benmoor & Waitaki River Railroad are the major foci of my life.
I would love to do a return trip to the US and possibly visit the Motherland (United Kingdom) on the way home.
I am building the Benmoor & Waitaki River Railroad which is a freelance mid-western layout and BTW it is not suited to rivet counters modelers.
This is my second layout, the first died a horrible death but this one I'll finish (providing I live long enough).
- Modern Freight Deisels particualy ACe herratage units
- I like the following roads NS / Uncle Pete / BNSF and MRL
I like Modern locos and classic American V8 cars(and shoes, at work I was called Emalda Marcos)
Benmoor & Waitaki River Railroad
I want my layout to include:
- Passenger terminal
- Main Yard
- Steel works
- Some industries
- A city scene
- A Staging yard
- Engine repair facilaty
Passenger Terminal
My Passenger Terminal is stubb ended requiring trains too reverse in, it has 8 tracks and is a ground level design with butterfly platform canopies that service 2nd Generation Passenger Trains.
Trains leave via a loop & pass through the yard and on to the main line
Main Yard
My yard has facilities for parking, servicing and repairing locomotives and rolling stock.
I also have stub tracks for storing rolling stock and some though tracks for the asembling of trains.
Steel Works
I am building 3 Blast Furnaces,a Coke Retort, a Basic Oxygen Furnace an Electric Furnace & a couple of Rolling Mills.
The ore is delivered to the ore pit, the coal to the coke ovens & the limestone to the crusher.
The molten metal is taken from the blastfurnaces in hot metal cars to the rolling mills
I must thank Tom Barbalet from Model Rail Radio for promoting our efforts down under her in Adelaide South Australia.
That's all for this time - until next time happy modelling.
